STATE CHAMPION | National Champion | rome open champion
Professor 4th degree Sidney Silva, began his martial arts career at the age of 6 in Judo, where he won six state championships.

In 1999, he moved to Honolulu – Hawaii, where he lived for 11 years and began teaching Jiu-Jitsu at the University of Hawaii (UH), to the US Army and the Hawaiian police.
Sidney was awarded a black belt in 2007 by Professor Romolo Barros, a 7th degree black belt under Master Rickson Gracie.
As a blue and purple belt, he competed extensively, excelling in both gi and no-gi competitions, and became a four-time Hawaiian Jiu-Jitsu Champion and a six-time Hawaiian Submission Wrestling Champion, including events organized by the Rickson Gracie Association where he got 1st place in his weight class and 3rd in the absolute.
As a purple belt, he began focusing on MMA, where he won the Hawaiian belt and the American belt in competitions that followed the old PRIDE rules at the INCON event (formerly Super Brawl).
In 2008, Sidney was invited to train UFC fighter Phil Baroni at Randy Couture’s gym in Las Vegas, where he met fellow UFC fighter Wanderlei Silva.
Soon after Wanderlei acted as a corner in one of his fights, Sidney was invited to teach at Wanderlei’s gym in Las Vegas, where he taught for over three years. In addition to Baroni and Wanderlei, Sidney has also trained other UFC athletes, such as Chris Leben, Jason Reinhardt and Josh Quinlan.
Because of the dissolution of the Rickson Gracie Association in 2002, Sidney Silva founded his own association, which now has branches in the Brazil, USA, Canada, Italy, the UK and Australia.
He returned to competing as a black belt, becoming 2x times American National champion, Rome Open champion, European Jiu-Jitsu champion, 2nd place at the European NO GI and winning third place at the Pan-American Jiu-Jitsu Championship.
Currently, Sidney continues his mission of spreading the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu around the world, training new champions, sharing his vast experience and dedication to Jiu-Jitsu and MMA, currently teaching at Gracie Humaita Las Vegas.
